Community Running
A member-led Cambridge running club since 1998, offering real coach-led workouts for runners of every ability — from a first 5K to a Boston Marathon qualifier. Monday and Wednesday workouts at the MIT outdoor track (Harvard's track in late spring, MIT's indoor track in winter). Unaffiliated with any store or brand; dues pay for the track and the coaches.

Frontrunners Boston
Boston's first LGBTQ+ running club, founded in 1979 and open to everyone. The main weekly run is Saturday at 10am from the Public Garden flagpole — three Charles River loops of 3.6, 5.2 or 7.2 miles, run or walk, followed by brunch — plus Monday evenings from Davis Square and Wednesday evenings in Jamaica Plain. Free, no membership.

Greater Boston Track Club
A storied competitive club (founded 1973, home of coach Bill Squires and a deep Boston Marathon lineage) for track, road and cross-country athletes of all ages and levels. The distance team meets Tuesday evenings for a coached track workout at Danehy Park in Cambridge, with long runs along the Charles and the Marathon-course hills. The original chapter of the free fitness movement, founded in Boston in 2011 — bodyweight-and-cardio circuits, Harvard Stadium stairs, and Summit Ave hill repeats, all before work. Monday is a 'destination deck' at a rotating spot posted weekly; Wednesday is the Harvard Stadium stairs; Friday is hills in Brookline. Just show up; all paces and all movement welcome, free.

Parkway Running Club
West Roxbury's neighborhood club, running out of the Parkway Community YMCA since well before most run crews existed. Tuesday and Thursday morning and evening runs of 4–8 miles at a 7–11 min/mi range, a Saturday long run, and a Sunday run from the Arnold Arboretum. Five to thirty runners split by pace; nobody runs alone. You need not be a YMCA member to join.

A welcoming Quincy club founded in September 2023 that meets every Tuesday at A Healthy Balance for a free 3–4 mile run at a conversational pace, with routes refreshed each month. The 6:30 PM start shifts earlier in the winter months. All paces welcome; the club lives on Instagram and Strava.

The longtime Somerville club — a diverse group of all ages, paces and backgrounds. The free Monday-night 'Bur-Run' is a casual 3-miler from Kenney Park in Davis Square that ends at The Burren; the Thursday 4.06-miler from Casey's is the run that started the club. The full week also holds a Tuesday breakfast-club run and Tufts track night, a Wednesday morning run and the Squirrel Scramble at Mighty Squirrel in Waltham, and weekend long runs.
